    Books Literature Tarot Decks

    The Wonderland Tarot in a Tin is a re-issue of the original Wonderland Tarot, packaged here in a pocket-size tin. Its a 78-card deck themed around the stories, scenes and characters of Alice in Wonderland.

    The Lord of the Rings Oracle is a 40 card divination deck, ostensibly based on Tolkiens work. The artwork is illustrated in quick coloured pencil sketches, and the associations between Middle Earth and the cards are not well thought out. By the same author who made the (better)Lord of the Rings Tarot.

    A compelling and dark tarot deck, with sepia-toned artwork in the vein of H. P. Lovecraft, writer of horror and science fiction.

    The Tarot of the Morning Star is a visual representation of the concepts artist Roger Williamson explores in his books, Howling at the Sky, Black Book of the Jackal and Lucifer Diaries. The first edition is a majors-only deck of 75 signed copies.

    The Oracle of Poets is a set of 44 cards with a tarot basis – two cards in the deck represent each major arcana card. Each card features a watercolour image of a famous poet and one of their well-known quotes. Each poet is designed to act as a key to manifest your talent, potential, abundance, flow and divine nature. The deck is as-yet unpublished but soon to be on Kickstarter.

    The Book of Azathoth is an homage to the American sci-fi and horror author, H.P. Lovecraft. The 78 card deck is designed to give the feel of being of Lovecrafts universe, as used by one of his characters. Self-published and available from the artist.

    The Shakespeare Tarot merges the works of William Shakespeare with the art and mysticism of the Renaissance. The 78 images are drawn from alchemical treatises, frescos, etchings, drawings, and masterpieces in oil, and are landscape-oriented to emulate a stage.

    Based on Shakespeares many and varied plays, the Shakespearian Tarot deck shows Romeo and Juliet as the Lovers, Hamlet as the Hanged Man and Lear the Hermit. Each card has a quote from a Shakespeare play which matches the image.

    The Ring Cycle Tarot is a complex, non-traditional tarot based on The Ring of the Nibelung, an opera by Wagner. The 78 cards are adapted from illustrations by Arthur Rackham and are part of a deep system based on the mythology, symbolism, plot, music and characters of the Ring Cycle.

    A tarot deck and game inspired by TolkiensLord of the Ringstrilogy. Thick borders surround the complex and busy but nicely coloured artwork, and a quote from one of the books printed on each card.

    The Poet Tarot is a 70-card deck created by and for poets, writers and artists. It features 30 well-known poets on its major arcana and court cards, and has themed minor arcana suits of Quills (Wands), Muses (Cups), Mentors (Swords), and Letterpresses (Pentacles). Published and available now after a successful Kickstarter campaign.

    The Oz Oracle is inspired by the classic book, the Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, and is structured around Dorothys journey from home, through Oz, and to home again. The 60 cards are colourful and positive and designed to guide and inspire. Self-published and available from the artist.

    The Ravens Prophecy Tarot is the creation of author and artist Maggie Stiefvater, writer of the Ravens Cycle books. The 78 non-traditional cards are stark and brooding, with dark and enigmatic artwork.

    The legendary literary detective comes alive in the Sherlock Holmes Tarot. This beautifully themed 79-card deck stays true to the characters, era and stories from the books by Arthur Conan Doyle. The majors are important figures and locations from the books, while the minors each have a scene from a particular story.

    The American Renaissance Tarot is a literary-themed 78-card tarot, featuring 36 American writers and depicting scenes of great American literature from the years 1825-1875. The major arcana focus on Transcendentalism and also tell the story of the abolition of slavery, while the minor arcana illustrates works from Herman Melville (Wands), Edgar Allen Poe (Swords), Nathaniel Hawthorne (Cups), and Frederick Douglass (Coins).

    The Avalonian Oracle has 46 cards depicting scenes, goddesses and concepts linked with the priestesses of Avalon, the Arthurian legends and Celtic druidism. The deck is modelled around the concept of the Sevenfold Path and is designed for divination and self-realisation.

    Also known as the Romeo and Juliet Tarot, the Shakespeare Tarot is a beautiful deck from artist Luigi Scapini where the cards are linked with scenes and characters from the Bards plays. The minor arcana feature the pips, but also include colourful illustrations.

    Thats not the only reason. Ive noticed how a lot of the more casual players get completely discouraged by farming Burial Chambers. There are so many guides and people recommending Burial Chambers and its such a dumb idea.

    A more casual player who will run maybe 10-20 maps at most with a 5min/map build every session will still get at least one if not multiple cards per session. He can clearly see how hes making some progress and will actually feel rewarded by the game after each session.

    Ive mentioned some examples of potential maps with somewhat common drops but this might not be enough choice for some players. What Id recommend is to check the following two websites to figure out a map that could potentially be better suited:

    If you want to work on your long-term motivation, keep yourself posted by updating a loot spreadsheet. It helps keep track of your ACTUAL findings. It really is a nice thing to do and gives you nice breathers in between temples.

    Set up multiple loot filters for a proper Chaos recipe rotation of items (Grimro has a nice video about this on his YouTube channel), then simply alch and go. No use in getting salty over not finding exalted orbs. In fact, you make a lot more money from currency drops in general than you do from finding a couple exalts.

    Ty for posts. Your posts pointing that im still more lucky than others. 😀 😀 😀 Last league made 3 six links with 500 fus. 😀 😀 😀 But 0 exalts, so there was my RNG better than ex drop. D 😀 😀 This league start 1 Dtor only. Agen RNG gaved something to start faster. Yea, but my friend RNG is f…cking to good. He get so many drops only in one week and overall currency was 50 ex in 1 and half week. All of he, cos we are racing all leagues, who will get faster Headhunter and more currency, so i was pissed off on my RNG.     Poe.ninja provides you with information about their prices. This can also give you a sense of how common/popular a card might be but dont forget about the layout of a map because if the layout is awful you might end up going insane after 20 maps.

    The difference between The Doctor from Burial Chambers and lets say Channel for Humility/Tabula Rasa is just one thing. Humility drops are way more common but have a lesser payout.

    I get tired of all the potential wonderful items PoE has but then GGG sets the bar so very high (sets the drop rate so RNG low) that only the no-lifers can play enough to actually get enough to drop to make use of them. I do understand and get the fact that certain items are long term goals to be worked toward (heaven forbid that we get everything super fast and get bored out) but GGG in catering to the few % of no-lifers is making it extremely frustrating (time wise) for the normal 25 hour a week PoE players to achieve anything. Placing the carrot way out on a 39 pole is just too much. There has to be a better balance, not too hard, not too soft, but just right. So far GGG has not managed to hit my target on PoE endgame rewards for time played.Youve got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone…

    If you want guaranteed drops and to always get uniques randomly raining from the skies, go play Diablo 3. Theyve built the game for people with your attitude and schedule.

    This absolutely has something to do with end game. You think Divination Cards wont drop ever in maps? Give me a break. You do realize that GGG has all the data as to where players spend their time and what theyre doing and how theyre doing it, right?     You realize that Lifesprig is a great leveling wand early in a league, right? Seems to me that set of cards is going to be farmed for quite a bit so people dont have to look at another weapon for a while.

    GGG has been hiring more and more people too, so talking about resource draining doesnt make sense as theyre gaining resources. Maybe theyre human beings and wanted to mix it up, try something new? You know, the thing GGG does all the time?

    So are divination cards going to be the new way to use up more of our precious stash space? Looks like I can trade in a stack of cards for aTwo-Stone Ring.     You seem to understand the point of Divination Cards (a long term goal to be worked towards in the case of a super rare unique/item) and yet you complain about it taking too long for someone who apparently plays 24 hours a week. Youre also clearly misinformed as to the value of certain items.

    do you really think this concept is to enhance gameplay, for our benefit and what the players want? no it is just an alternative way for GGG to raise a some higher class money from the early act 4 hype, nothing more. this probably is a simpler replacement of the concept of supporter uniqs, which made a lot more sense, but was too resource draining for GGGs team.

    my only concern about these cards is that they will drop so frequently (especially for items i wouldnt bother to pick up) and i will be constantly leaving them on the ground. screen clutter is already a pretty big problem in the game, and i feel like these cards should be made in a way so that they are a no-brainer pickup. i guess one way to solve this problem is to make niche, low-level cards only droppable in lower level zones (like for example, normal mud flats for the lifesprig). also, perhaps divination cards for items you might not otherwise care to pick up can be vendored for something useful (like 5 alch shards) so that they will always be worth picking upLast edited by Spokodude on Jun 2, 2015 10:49:15 AM

    We really cant tell until we see the full implementation of this. If the cards are so rare as to be virtually impossible to find, well get one result. While if theyre so common that theyre not worth trading, well get another. So theres really no way to make predictions as to what impact theyll have on play.

    Is your level 99 Standard League character going to go after the Lifesprig card set? No…but try your hardest to think outside the box (of your perspective) and see where it would be useful and youll understand.

    Botters generally sell to RMT sites. If you dont support the RMT sites, why do you care? Maybe you should learn more about botting and how the programs thatre out there work and try to find clever ways to locate them via coding in order to help GGG stop botters if you care so much?

    The Two-Stone ring, per the creator of it, is ilvl 79 – thats AWESOME.

    The Lootfilter generator has had its price regulation logic switched back on for all items that now appear on Poe.Ninjas price listings.

    Due to the lack of data at the very begining of a league, we implement a blanketing rule that will ensure you get all of our normally price regulated items always shown as their Tier 2 Style up until the point that we feel there is enough data to be able to switch back on the price based filtering. This is to ensure noone misses out on those important drops early on!

    Yellow: Decent maps with niche advantages but not quite as efficient, quick or mainstream as green maps.

    Due to this update the filter will not work until after the Incursion patch.

    After creating an account and visiting your profile page you will now be able to create loot filter presets. These presets will save your personal styles and settings allowing you to generate on the fly filters far easier without having to re-input all your info.

    We cant say much yet but we have plans to bring you guys the ultimate mapping companion that will help you record your costs, loot and drop chances per map!

    Environment and Boss: We have included data about the environment to allow newer players to get an idea of how the map is going to feel and what they may encounter. The Base boss model is listed to give newer players the ability to compare map bosses with ones they have faced in the main story.

    The Lootfilter generator has been updated to include Incursion items and new Incursion loot filter rules.

    Purple: Unique maps get their own category as they are often not run for efficiency or speed and when they are its to target specific drops or abuse group play mechanics.

    We have been notified of some issues with loot filter styles not saving to your Loot Filter Preferences in certain scenarios and are expecting to have a fix before the end of the day.

    Drop Locations/ Acquisition Methods for all Unique Items in the game

    Patch 1.1 is live! As a team we would like to thank the PoE community for such an overwhelming positive response to the site. Its clear there is a big demand for the site we are aiming to build. We have been working around the clock to ensure PoE Wizard lives up to the Communities expectations!

    Red: Red ranked maps are generally fairly slow to run with maze like layouts that involve backtracking.

    Sextants: The Number of each sextant type that can be applied to each map this includes the map itself assuming it is unshaped. (vault would have 7 yellow sextants not 6 yellow 1 red.)

    After consolidating the communities feedback we have found our user interface could use some work. We are currently reviewing our options and deciding the best course of action to create a UI that will satisfy all PoE players ensuring it is easy to use, allows quick browsing and is beginner friendly.

    Loot filter preferences will persist throughout leagues and are intended to ensure you never need to restyle another loot filter outside of new game additions ever again. To generate your filter head to the filter section of the site, select your chosen preference set from the drop down menu, choose a league and generate away.

    The Filter was created with high tier mapping in mind and the default settings reflect that. We understand some players enjoy a less strict loot filter so we included options to highlight rare item types, lower tier currencies as well as a feature to hide or highlight specific maps.

    Patch 1.2 will include a complete database of all skill gems and their values from level 1 to 30! We plan on creating gifs of each active skill gem and how it looks in game. We also want to allow users to see all applicable support gems for each active skill gem.

    We have combed the web and all known datasets for all the divination card drop locations and gathered them in one place for you! You can find these drops by hovering over a map or clicking a map from the database.

    League start support: (any item which is currently not for sale at the time the filter is generated will be marked as a tier 2 div card, unique or currency depending on the item.) In a league start situation this will ensure all items will be shown even if they are currently not for sale. Remember to update your filter often in a new league to have the most effective filter as the economy changes.

    PoE Wizard has been updated for patch 3.2 you can now find all the new uniques, divination cards and prophecies in our database! If you find any issues with any of the following items please be sure to contact us via email.

    Styling: You can now style the base filter based on your personal preferences choosing what color, sound and size you want associated with each drop.

    We are aware that there was an issue with the Shaped Underground Sea Map, and other Shaped Maps. This was due to a change in our source of data and how the item was named in our backend. We have since amended this and apologize for any inconveniences.

    Price blanketing has been turned off for all items except for a few remaining Divination Cards that have not appeard on Poe.Ninja yet.

It then grabs the most up to date prices for every unique and divination card in the game and filters them accordingly.     Alejandro Jodorowsky Explains How Tarot Cards Can Give You Creative Inspiration

    Initially, the project arrived as a commission from producer Albert Broccoli for the James Bond filmLive and Let Die. Likely inspired by his wife Gala, who nurtured his interest in mysticism, writesChicagos Museum of Contemporary Art, Dal eagerly got to work, and continued the project of his own accord when the contractual deal fell through.

    Overall, the deck combines the eclectic origins of occult practices with Dals own unmistakable sensibility. Dals Tarot is a pastiche of old-world art, surrealism, kitsch, Christian iconography and Greek and Roman sculpture. Many of his recurring motifs such as the rose, the fly and the bulls head are found throughout the deck. First published in a limited edition in 1984and reissued since in editionsby TASCHENand in book form byother publishersthe deck included an introductory booklet that reads, in Spanish, English, and French:

    What might another visionary artist, Salvador Dal, think of Jodorowskys Tarot interpretations? Well never know, but I suspect he would find them enchanting. Not only do the two seem like kindred spirits, but Dal devoted some part of his life to the Tarot, designing his own deck in the 70s.

    The Tarot has long been a tool of charlatans. But it has also long been embraced by brilliant, unconventional thinkers, many of whom themselves have a touch of the charlatan about them (and who would just as likely admit it with a smile). William Butler Yeats was a fan, as is visionary Chilean filmmaker, artist, writer, and psychonautAlejandro Jodorowsky, who has recorded his own Youtube series explaining his take on this classic mode of divination. With its archetypal symbolism, the Tarots appeal to artists should be obvious. Most of them, like Jodorowsky, find far more interesting uses for it than fortune-telling. You must not talk about the future, Jodorowsky tells us in his series, the future is a con. The tarot is a language that talks about the present.

    It was just around this time that the Tarot saw a massive resurgence in popularity. The occult interests of the 60s counterculture were mainstreamed in the 70s thanks to books like Stuart KaplansTarot Cards for Fun and Fortune Telling. But while Dal had channeled the vivid psychedelia of the age in an earlier illustration project,1969sAlice and Wonderland, his Tarot deck, writes Lisa Rainwater atGalo magazine, actually shows reserve. Yes, reserveas if his reverence for the tarot nearly humbles him. His knack for fanatical self-promotion does get the better of him eventually: he chooses his own face to represent the Magician (above).

    Learning the Sibilla is equivalent to learning a new card language in this regard, and so I advise caution against falling into the trap of thinking, or indeed being told by others, that there is any similarity with other decks like to Tarot or Lenormand decks for example. Although there are some superficial similarities with other decks, like the names of the cards and some of the imagery on them, this is simply not the case. To embrace such a belief would encourage assumptions and errors that would provide poor readings that lack true connection with the cards themselves and any authentic knowledge of them, their tradition, cultural significance and meaning, and their true essence. In this regard, it is my opinion and experience to be wary of anyone who gives tarot equivalents to the Italian Sibilla, for in so doing they betray their lack of knowledge and understanding of the Sibilla cards. Some people have called the Sibilla the poor mans Tarot. In my opinion this is simply not the case as the Sibilla has merits in its own right. Indeed , many people are unaware of the fact that the Tarot was not originally designed as a divination tool, but was adopted as such later on in history. Its original purpose and design was for the passing of secret messages and esoteric knowledge that as hidden in its symbolism. By contrast, the Vera Sibilla was specifically created for divination purposes. If you are interested in finding out more about the esoteric use of the Tarot I would recommend the book below.

    To that end, and whilst I am comfortable to provide sufficient information for existing card readers to uncover the meaning, significance and nature of the cards and their use, I am honour bound to use my unique knowledge and experience of La Vera Sibilla Italia, as handed down to me in the true esoteric tradition of word of mouth. Inasmuch and honouring that tradition, I shall over time select a few who show themselves to have earned such a right of passage. For those individuals I am developing my own apprenticeship course to teach them the secrets and techniques that I hope they will in turn pass on to others such as themselves.very grateful if you see my work published or shared elsewhere (outside of this web site and my Facebook page) I would be extremely grateful if you would let me know.

    For something to be truly esoteric in its original essence, practice and processes, it will remain outside of the wider public domain. Once such information is released to a wider audience, it is my experience that such esoteric practices have the propensity to be copied, watered down, simplified and generally commercialised to satisfy the appetite of a generally curious and well intentioned, yet often misguided public, who sometimes lack a broader spiritually esoteric knowledge and background to use it wisely.

    The accomplishment of esoteric skills can take an entire lifetime, with the knowledge and experience being built upon over many decades of learning, failing, understanding and learning all over again. The 20thCentury saw a disregard for such traditions of time honoured learning through the expansion of a new spiritual movement that, instead of wanting to study, learn and understand the esoteric, became obsessed with the doing and experiencing first. This has led to a generalisation, deletion and distortion of information that has been almost watered down to satisfy the hunger of a new era of spiritual interests and needs.

    It is also no coincidence that the La Vera Sibilla Italiana is not currently widely available outside of its native language, for these cards come from a heritage of true esoteric practise in the real sense of the word – handed down by word of mouth and even today well-practised by a relatively small number of people. I have no doubt that with the release of my own work, there will be other non-Italian card readers who will suddenly come out of the woodwork and profess their own hitherto unspoken knowledge of this deck, bless their commercially minded souls and almost certainly already well-known names.

    For example, the Death card in the Tarot and the Death card in the Sibilla deck mean two completely different things, as do the Wheel of Fortune in the Tarot and the Fortune card in the Vera Sibilla.

    It is now not uncommon for some card readers to use the Tarot as a sort of blueprint or foundation for understanding other cartomancy decks. It is not unlike the belief that once one learns to play the piano, one can play any instrument. Although most accomplished pianists are indeed able to get a tune out of many other instruments, they rarely do so as well as they would perform on the piano. Perhaps a better example would be learning Portuguese when you speak Spanish fluently and your native tongue is English. There may be similarities in certain words, although their meaning is completely different. With a superficial knowledge mistakes will, therefore, be more common than correct translations. In language, these words are referred to as false friends. In cartomancy you will find many similar card images and symbolisms across several decks that actually have different meanings.
